Primary sauna benefits include, enhanced mood, reduced stress, and better sleep quality. To really achieve these benefits it is recommended that you should try to sauna on a regular basis, ideally at least once a week. More frequent use can also lead to even greater benefits.
One study from Finland conducted over decades showed significant benefits of frequent sauna bathing, it found a 63% lower risk of sudden cardiac death for those using a sauna 4–7 times per week (compared to once a week).
Many Wellness experts advise specific frequencies depending on your desired outcome:
For cardiovascular health: Aim to sauna 3-4 times per week for maximum benefits.
For Stress relief: sauna 2-3 times week focusing on relaxation rather than intensity.
For weight management: 3-5 saunas per week combined with proper diet and exercise.
For detoxification: 2-4 saunas a week ensuring proper hydration.
For Athletic recovery: Daily sessions of a shorter duration typically 10-15 minutes post-workout optimise muscle recovery and reduce muscle soreness.
